New Scanning Utility Bypasses Java Drama

If you’ve scanned documents directly into Simplifile, you may have encountered issues with Java or found that your favorite browsers (like Chrome and Microsoft Edge) no longer support it. Say goodbye to these frustrations! This week we’re beginning to roll out our new Simplifile Scanning Utility.

Our new utility completely replaces the previous Java applet. When it’s available to you, you’ll be presented with a page in Simplifile to download Simplifile Scanning, verify your scanners (they must be TWAIN-compatible), and get right back to work scanning within Simplifile. Plus, you’ll be upgraded to our Java-free document viewer as well. Thus, removing any tedious Java applets from your Simplifile experience.

If you’re ready, you can get started with the new scanning tool now. You may need permission from your company’s IT administrator to download, so it’s a good idea to give them a heads-up of the change.

Not only is the new Simplifile Scanning Utility an improvement over the previous Java applet, it will soon be a necessity for many. Firefox will be following Chrome and Edge by officially ending support for Java applets in January 2017.

Also, if your counties have upgraded to our new Java-free utility, you’ll need to be sure you’re on it too to ensure seamless submissions.

We think you’ll appreciate this new utility for scanning. As always, if you have any questions please call us at 800.460.5657.
